Site Manager - Mobile

Manages overall operation and all aspects of a large manufacturing facility (multiple manufacturing units) including production, maintenance, technology, and other manufacturing units/functions.   Responsible for performance in environmental, safety, security, quality control, plant costs, distribution, human resources and purchasing activities.  Ensures continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality, cost effective maintenance, and appropriate technology support.  Sets expectations and work environment standards necessary for successful operation.  Ensures appropriate personnel planning, staffing, and performance management. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and safety standards. Interacts with the community to maintain right to operate.

 

Responsibilities:

Operations Strategy & Planning

  • Communication of business objectives, priorities and progress across the site
  • Communication with executives and functional leaders off-site and above site
  • Develops, implements and renews a site strategic plan, including a clear site vision, which supports the business and corporate strategy.
  • Leads site staff team in identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and aligning action plans and anticipating future needs.
  • Leverages resources and best practices across and within site, to address opportunities and needs.

 

Delivery

  • Management of site infrastructure and shared site services
  • Supports execution of the units' supply strategies and supply plans through the effective use of resources across the site.

 

Productivity

  • Accountable for advancing Manufacturing Excellence (people, environment, site vision, M&B, empowerment, accountability, visual controls, performance dialog, structured problem solving).
  • Champions implementation of Operations Excellence and Maintenance Excellence principles for unit operations.
  • Oversees Visual Performance Management, Execution Control systems and Short Interval Control to manage and immediately address variance from targets.
  • Responsible for site’s infrastructure capabilities, improvement and resource plans.

 

Environmental, Health, Safety

  • Establishes managing processes for advancing and ensuring consistency in occupational safety and Process Safety Management.
  • Leads identification and prioritization of risk reduction opportunities, establishes clear priorities and supports effective resourcing to drive improvement at the site.
  • Maintains positive community relations through active participation in local organizations, such as United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and Community Advisory Panel.

 

Quality

  • Provides support for units regarding quality system, maintaining certifications and continuous improvement of product to meet customer needs.

 

Cost

  • Supports attainment of the plant fixed costs targets, plant related variable cost and capital budgets to meet commitments for the site.
  • Defines strategy to optimize stores inventory & contract services.
  • Reviews financial activity reports & statements to assess progress & status in attaining site  cost objectives and identifying required corrective actions in accordance with current conditions and business requirements.

 

Morale, Talent Management & Capability Building

  • Develops personnel at the site (feedback, coaching, mentoring, delegation, difficult conversations, capability building)
  • Encourages employee engagement and fosters empowerment and ownership for site performance
  • Ensures the effectiveness of two-way communication processes across the site.
  • Manages staffing strategy (core/ variable, overtime management and labor planning)
  • Ensures effective recognition systems are in place at the site
  • Strategically guides employee and labor relations
  • Utilizes talent development processes, succession planning, and performance management.
