Function Overview:

Canada is a significant piece of FMC’s global portfolio with annual gross sales exceeding CAD 200 million.  The Country Manager for Canada is a key leadership opportunity to own P&L responsibility for the Canadian Crop business and make significant contributions for FMC.  By leading the Canadian marketing, sales, business development, and regulatory teams, the Country Manager is responsible for setting the commercial strategy to maintain and grow Canada’s crop business.  The Country Manager for Canada reports into the Executive Vice President and President, FMC Americas and is a member of the North America Leadership Team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full year and quarterly P&L for the Canadian business and align with corporate needs.
  • Lead the marketing, sales, business development, and regulatory teams to achieve optimum profitability and provide value added services to customers
  • Develop and communicate a clear business strategy, aligning with the corporate vision
  • Provide oversight to improve sales execution in the region
  • Maintain a deep level of subject matter expertise that ensures early identification and exploitation of new trends.
  • Full accountability to drive innovation at all levels of the organization
  • Prioritize growth opportunities based upon market potential and technical capability
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers
  • Select, develop and motivate staff to ensure goals are achieved and ensure a talent pipeline within the organization to sustain top talent over time
  • Drive accountability for the development of a diverse team for succession within the organization and continuously look for training and development opportunities for individuals
  • Evaluate bonus/incentive plans for effectiveness and modify as needed to drive results
  • Review budgets, ensure that field maintains all necessary sales, financial reports and records
  • Actively participate in planning of company policies, growth strategies and long-range goals
  • Identify, recommend and coordinate the purchases and integration of new business
  • Promote a culture of excellence in customer service and accountability for sales targets
  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with Operations, Finance and other center-led functions
  • Partner successfully with HR to maintain and build a culture that is consistent with the goals and vision of FMC
  • Instill and maintain a strong culture of safety within the Canadian organization.

 

Experience:

  • 15 + years of Ag business experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in customer relationship management 
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
  • Must be detail oriented, results focused and a self-starter with strong follow up skills
  • Strong presentations, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated outstanding performance in delivering business results
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving ability to determine solutions for customers
  • Leadership and team player abilities at all levels
  • People management experience

Education:

MBA desired, Bachelor's degree in an agricultural field or equivalent work experience
