“You will work in one of the growth sectors within FMC, where you will become a key driver in ensuring that we can supply more biological and plant health products in the future. In addition, you will become part of a very collaborative team. We function together as peers. I usually tell my team that we operate almost as a family, and we support each other both professionally and personally.” Janelle Gunning, Formulations and Packaging Tech Center Associate Director

Come join us at FMC

FMC Corporation is a leading specialty company focused on agricultural technologies. We provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to enhance crop yield and quality by controlling a broad spectrum of insects, weeds, and disease.

As a global and diverse organization, we offer our employees exciting opportunities to work on challenging projects that are important to the achievement of our strategic objectives. With a corporate culture of innovation, integrity, responsibility, and customer intimacy, we foster “The Right Chemistry” in everything we do.

Help grow an important strategic sector

You will be based out of our European Innovation Center (EIC) in Hørsholm, Denmark, and report to the EMEA Formulations and Packaging Tech Center Manager, who is based in France. In addition, you will be part of a regional team consisting of 7 improvement engineers working from different sites.

Joining this international team, you will get the chance to work on regional, cross-regional, and global projects. To ensure that you stay up-to-date and get the opportunity to share knowledge, you will participate in monthly meetings with the EMEA team as well as monthly meetings with the global Formulations and Packaging team.

Become our technical engineering expert

As our new improvement engineer for the EMEA region, your main objective will be to provide expertise to a variety of technical areas while serving as a key player in expanding FMC’s world-class biologicals portfolio globally. You will be the primary resource for translating pilot processes to commercial scale for both fermentation and spray drying.

You will be responsible for improvements in terms of everything from capacity, volume, and efficiency to safety. In short, you will use your technical capabilities to make meaningful changes for the organization to enable continued business growth and ensure the agility required to meet the demands of a dynamic market.

While not an extensive overview, some of your tasks include:

  • Serving as a role model and champion for EHS excellence and an injury-free culture
  • Supporting the maintenance and/or development of process safety information
  • Assessing site capabilities for the ability to manufacture potential new or re-sited products
  • Working collaboratively with FMC stakeholders to design safe and efficient commercial manufacturing processes for new products
  • Developing and leading capital and continuous improvement projects from initiation through execution, commissioning, and close-out

You can expect to travel about 10% of the time, which translates to 3-4 days at a time or a week here and there throughout the year.

A degree in engineering and biological fermentation experience

To thrive in this role, you will need the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams. You are a strong proponent of having an open dialogue with your colleagues, and you enjoy being inspired by and inspiring others, motivating your team to achieve project goals.

Your strong interpersonal and communication skills allow you to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information to and with global internal and external partners.

Most importantly, we would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a BS in biochemical engineering, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Have practical experience in biological fermentation-related field operations
  • Are used to working with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Teams – any experience with SAP and Minitab or other statistical tools is a plus
