Business/Function Overview:

The District Sales Manager is responsible to provide leadership and talent management for the Retail Marketing Managers within a designated territory.  We have opportunities in the areas of Pennsylvania and Texas and  the selected candidate will be required to live or be willing to relocate to the area.  Responsibilities include both people and account responsibility.  Ensure all distributor and retail accounts activities are aligned with the district and overall Region initiatives.   Work with the Regional Business Manager to ensure regional targets, EBIT and expense targets are obtained.  Individual required to have a keen sense of teamwork and the ability to build effective teams. Participate in CBU Leadership Team meetings providing input for North American Crop future direction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in key business drivers and competitive activities into account and territory planning process
  • Ensure maximum account penetration of team for optimal customer relationships and sales opportunities.
  • Focus on sales targets - identifying and developing new prospects to sell FMC products as well as business development opportunities
  • Increase the support of the Star Retailer Network
  • Lead the utilization of resources (sales, technical support) to achieve best possible account profitability and to provide value added services to accounts.
  • Provide leadership and promote teamwork within the NA Organization:
  • Assist in the development of marketing and communication programs and initiatives
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with mid-level customers
  • Select, develop and motivate staff to ensure department goals are achieved.
  • Provide guidance/direction and coaching to direct reports.  With direction negotiate complex agreements
  • Provide insight and participate in cross functional business teams
  • Ensure sales objectives are met
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assure use of systems for effective business management
  • Participate in building regional sales forecasts and budgets maintaining alignment with financial objectives
  • With guidance assure cost effective resource utilization and budgeting
  • Identify and Communicate Customer Needs to FMC and Influence FMC Response

Required Education

BS/BA preferred in Agronomics or related field of agriculture,

MBA a plus

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years commercial experience in a sales role
  • Key contributor on complex projects
  • Agricultural chemical crop protection industry experience required
  • Experience in both sales and marketing a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to various business practices
  • Demonstrated the ability to make independent judgments with review from management; makes decisions of a complex nature where independent judgment and creativity are required.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Attitude of respect across all levels of organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with middle to senior management
  • Has led projects or special assignment involving work outside the area/region.
  • Proven track record with the ability to make instant impact on sales in a given territory
  • Serves as a valuable resource to others within the sales organization
  • Willing to relocate to develop career
