In 2021, we established the Office of the Corporate Sustainability Officer bringing together Sustainability, Stewardship, Diversity & Inclusion, Philanthropy and Government & Industry Affairs to maximize our impact in this arena.  We are looking for a sustainability engineer to accelerate our progress towards a net-zero future. Reporting to the Global Director of Sustainability, this role will drive the achievement of FMC’s environmental goals in the areas of GHG emissions, energy, water and waste.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collect the sustainability environmental data management process, including the software data collection system, as well as collaborating with site personnel and operations to ensure accuracy of the metrics.
  • Support the Director to identify, prioritize and implement sustainability related initiatives to reduce overall environmental footprint.  Areas of focus include greenhouse gases (GHG), energy use, water use and waste generation.
  • Monitor industry best practices in strategy and resource efficiency coupled with a strong curiosity in order to bring leverage FMC’s practices focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Provide data and analysis to operations and procurement to develop and track progress towards Science Based Targets for Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Track and report on progress against evolving sustainability targets using SASB and GRI reporting frameworks to support business strategies.
  • Collect environmental data and metrics for internal and corporate reporting requirements and various ESG surveys.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure robust evaluation of environmental impact of proposed capital projects.

 

Education & Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences required
  • Strong experience in Chemical industry and GHG inventory accounting and verification, science-based targets, renewable energy strategies and environmental reporting
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize business impacts, communicate trends, and execute a program management plan
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to distill complex topics for varied audiences
  • Working knowledge MS Office products
