Regional Regulatory Manager, Pheromones

Position Overview:

The Regional Regulatory Manager, Pheromones will be responsible for the implementation of the regional regulatory strategy for FMC’s Pheromones, and in some extent supporting biopesticide registration projects, working in collaboration with senior regulators, project managers, regulatory scientists, and country/global regulatory affairs managers. This position offers the opportunity for a regulatory affairs professional to further develop a career in the regulation of crop protection biopesticides, biochemicals & biostimulants. The position requires initiative in regulatory management of projects directly linked to the success of the business in the areas of product line expansion, growth, defense, sourcing, off-patent strategy, trade and competitive intelligence, in all geographies and across all product lines. 



Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Define and manage the regional regulatory strategy for FMC’s Plant Health Portfolio of Pheromones.
  • Develop and implement regional plans and timelines for introduction of new actives and products, defense activities and growth opportunities of the portfolio in alignment with global regulatory in close cooperation with global project management.
  • Scoping, setting and management of project budgets.
  • Coordinate and identify data and studies required to support registrations
  • Build prioritization lists of regional registration activities in collaboration with key stakeholders, review the scope and work needed, and coordinate the related regulatory activities for assigned portfolio
  • Work with country/Global regulatory affairs managers to develop and implement the regional regulatory strategy, to meet submission deadlines and ensure timely publication of product authorization.
  • Contribute to project teams comprised of operational project managers, regulatory scientists, and country/global regulatory affairs manager.
  • Be a part of a high level strategic team developing strategic plans for the protection of the assets using data protection, intellectual property and regulatory procedures.
  • Collaboration with legal and Intellectual Property teams and providing the regulatory leadership.
  • Represent FMC in regional industry associations and be actively involved to promote science based and pragmatic regulations for pheromones in the region as appropriate.
  • Determine requirements for, and implications of, new or changing regulatory schemes.
  • Strategic management – maintain external focus relating to opportunities and threats to key active ingredients.
  • Meeting with regulatory authorities together with country managers as required.
  • Understand the legislative and regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry and promote strategies in advance of competitive pressure.


Required Education:

  • Minimum MS degree (Ph.D. preferred) preferably in a regulatory science or a related discipline (chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, toxicology, ecotoxicology environmental science)



  • Experience in a regulatory related role in the plant protection industry, chemicals, or pharma (5+ years) with a demonstrated ability to apply scientific knowledge to regulatory related solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of crop protection industry: technical, commercial, farming techniques, crop specific issues, etc. is preferred
  • Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and policymakers.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Proven track record of successes in strategic thinking, operational excellence, communication and networking to drive results
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and development of scientific positions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize data and develop recommendations
  • Ability to effectively monitor industry and regulatory activities and assess impact on key compounds
  • Proactive and strong problem-solving ability
  • Sound judgment, planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Fluency in English
