Senior RTR Accountant for FMC Europe Financial Reporting & Accounting Group

Join a dynamic and social work force
At our offices in Cork, Ireland, you will join the FMC Europe Financial Reporting & Accounting Group. More specifically, you will step into our Record to Report (R2R) team alongside 40 experienced colleagues. Reporting to our regional lead, you will manage 1 large entity or 2-3 smaller entities within the NAM region – with full responsibility for accounting activities on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.

Ensure timely and accurate accounting
Your main responsibility will be to ensure timely and accurate completion of business unit accounting activities such as – but not limited to – journal entries, account reconciliation, intercompany accounting, fixed assets counting, other account analyses and business unit closing activities.

Helping us achieve results through a high level of financial service, you will build and maintain close relationships with local representatives from your business units. Moreover, you will be encouraged to contribute with initiatives to drive standardisation, process improvements and -optimisation across the group. Using your strong understanding of financial standards as well as company policies, SOX and other regulatory requirements, you will:

  • Maintain relevant business unit general ledgers, execute closing activities and submit financial results to Corporate Accounting in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in the execution of specific controls within accounting processes and other general accounting activities
  • Execute regional closing activities in accordance with the close calendar and checklist and submit regional results for consolidation
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP accounting rules along with SOX where applicable
  • Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organisation, achieving identified financial, process and talent goals
  • Actively manage workload and escalate inefficiencies and concerns to the Record to Report Lead
  • Achieve deadlines set by leadership and proactively raise instances where deadlines cannot be met in a timely fashion
  • Troubleshoot SAP queries relating to month end closing activities 
  • Assist with the creation and modification of trainings and content
  • Strong team player and mentor

Analytical accountant with great interpersonal skills  
We are looking for an analytical colleague who appreciates teamwork and collaboration. You want to actively contribute to our positive culture, and you are always ready to help your colleagues. Moreover, you bring great customer management, communication and change management skills.

  • You have a BA or BS degree in finance, accounting or equivalent.
  • You preferably hold one or more professional accountancy qualifications such as CPA, CFA, CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
  • You have 4+ years of accounting experience – preferably including experience with R2R functions within e.g. a shared service centre function for a multinational corporation. 
  • You have experience with MS Office and ERP systems – preferably SAP.
