Business/Function Overview

 

The Environmental, Health & Safety Counsel will function as a proactive corporate and business partner to provide environmental, health, and safety related regulatory and business advice. The position also serves to provide support and advice on remediation at active and legacy sites, as well as related litigation management. This role will report to the Assistant General Counsel – EHS & Operations.

 

Job Overview and Primary Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Support EHS Operations, including:

  1. day to day counseling
  2. EHS Operations planning regarding reporting and metrics
  3. write and support implementation of Company EHS standards
  4. assisting sites with environmental permit applications
  5. participate in EHS audits and action plans
  6. participate in learning reviews and root cause analyses on incidents

• Handle and manage environmental administrative and litigation matters

• Participate in remedial investigation and negotiations with government agencies for operating and legacy remediation sites

• Provide guidance on various Government directives & initiatives

• Training for Facility Management on EHS regulations and updates (i.e., RCRA, TSCA, OSHA)

• Provide counsel and support to VP of Operations and EHS Directors, as well as EHS Operations Leaders in the US and abroad

• Participate in EHS Audits

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Law Degree from an Accredited Law School

• Active Bar Membership – PA Preferred

• 5 to 8 years’ experience in environmental counseling, drafting legal documentation and managing litigation with a proven track record in a corporate law department or private law firm environment

• Strong environmental law background

• Knowledge of Superfund, RCRA, and TSCA. Knowledge of FIFRA regulations preferred.

• Experience in chemical and/or manufacturing sectors preferred

• Excellent written & oral communication skills
