Function Overview:

The Senior State Registration and Regulatory Affairs Manager is accountable for the development and implementation of regulatory strategies and tactical plans to grow and defend the US Crop product portfolio in all US states with an emphasis on California. The position is accountable for delivering favorable state registration outcomes and influencing state-level regulatory policies important to the business. The position requires extensive state regulatory competency as well as strong negotiating and influencing skills




  • Drive the development of state-level regulatory strategies, plans, and quality submissions for the US Crop product portfolio to enable optimal business results in all key states.
  • Provide supervisory responsibilities to the State Registration and Label Specialists within the US Regulatory team.
  • Lead in understanding, interpreting and complying with all state pesticide laws and regulations pertaining to the sale and use of products in the US states.
  • Lead in understanding the regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry in California, Florida, New York and other key states with well-developed regulatory systems by actively participating on influential state regulatory industry committees/work groups including the American Association of Pest Control Officials and the Western Plant Health Association.
  • Lead in understanding and interpreting non-pesticide laws and regulations in the states with an emphasis on California, Florida, New York and other key states that impact the business with a focus on water quality, air quality and endangered species protection. Recommend actions in advance of legislative and regulatory pressure.
  • Establish strong professional relationships with key decision makers in regulatory Agencies including the California Department of Pesticide Regulation and the California State and Regional Water Quality Control Boards.
  • Coordinate state regulatory and government affairs activities with FMC Corporate state and federal Government Affairs efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with US Regional Business teams to provide timely regulatory insights resulting in optimal business results.
  • Effectively manage unplanned events that affect quality of state submissions and budgets.
  • Integrate the Product Stewardship and Responsible Care codes of FMC into regulatory strategies and plans in the US states.




  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in scientific discipline or equivalent experience in regulatory and legislative affairs.




  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in registration and regulatory affairs in key states including California, Florida and New York.
  • In depth knowledge of state regulatory data requirements, programs and policies with an emphasis on the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
  • In depth knowledge of the California Food and Agricultural Code and California Water Code as it pertains to agriculture, pesticide use and water quality.
  • Experience with the California State and Regional Water Quality Control Boards and knowledge of their authority as it relates to agriculture and the use of pesticides under the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act and the federal Clean Water Act.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
