Market Specialist, T&O – South Central 
 
Overview:  

The Turf and Ornamental Market Specialist role is responsible for representing FMC Professional Solutions in the South Central to create demand and maximize sales for the business’ Turf and Ornamental segment. The successful individual will collaborate with cross functional groups such as, but not limited to marketing, key accounts management and product development to generate demand for Turf and Ornamental products through end-users and distributor sales rep points of contact, product positioning, new product introductions and training. This role will report to the Turf and Ornamental Sales Manager. 

 

Job Location: South Central: AR, CO, KS, LA, NM, OK, TX 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare sales presentations, call plans, proposals and reports for internal and external communication 

  • Focus on sales targets, business development, building customer relationships and resolving customer issues 

  • Responsible for generating demand by delivering product related information to customers, distributors, sales/tech reps, end users, consultant groups and others in the designated territory 

  • Develop and execute sales plans; negotiating to meet sales targets if applicable 

  • Obtain and communicate competitive practices and assist in the assessment of competitive information, such as: products and positioning 

  • Support internal sales campaigns through establishing cross-functional relationships with Key Account Management and Marketing to ensure alignment with product attributes, positioning and program fit 

  • Deliver presentations to establish and further strengthen relationships with key influencer and consultant groups 

  • Deliver CEU training to customers, distributors, and key accounts 

  • Ability to Call on Associations, Trade Groups, Distribution Reps, Key End Users, End User Service companies 

  • Manage customer trials and demos to accumulate field data for the commercial development of products, label expansion and if applicable to resolve technical issues that arise from the use of our products. 

  • Coordinate with technical service managers when needed to ensure timely technical service to customers 

  • Ensure customers and end users are using products in accordance to the applicable label directions while also ensuring proper maintenance, storage and transportation. 

  • Assist customers and end users in optimizing efficacy of Professional Solutions products in a manner consistent with environmental stewardship and protection. 

  • Require 60% travel to service territory responsibilities 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field with experience in golf industry 

  • Level 1:   

  • Minimum of 5 years related sales experience 

  • Working knowledge of primary products and market opportunities 

  • Must understand key competitive products 

  • Demonstrated ability to design and present presentations to groups and individuals 

  • Ability to present effective alternative solutions to problems 

  • Effectively implement business objectives for the territory 

  • Ability to manage two different market segments  

  • Has significant understanding of market dynamics; can develop/recommend specific actions targeted to local needs 

  • Demonstrated analytical approach in dealing with competitive market information 

  • Recognized as an advisor by many customers 

  • Recognizes issues and problems and takes action to solve 

  • Level 2:  

  • 10+ years related sales experience 

  • Develops and services significant accounts with experience in the support of national accounts 

  • Demonstrated the ability to make independent judgments with review from management 

  • Makes decisions of a complex nature where independent judgment and creativity are required. 

  • Demonstrated analytical approach in dealing with competitive market information 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with middle to senior management 

  • Has lead projects or special assignment involving work outside the area/region. 

  • Very strong interpersonal skills; able to foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration with others 

  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills 

  • Self-Starter with the ability to work independently in a remote location 

  • Able to deliver results on time 

  • Good computer skills (e.g. SAP, Microsoft tools) 

  • Knowledge of FMC Professional Solutions products and customers
