About the Role

FMC is establishing a Singapore Technical Center (STC) with the objective of expanding our chemistry, engineering and analytical capabilities in the region. The mission of the STC is to provide long-term sustainable process technology supporting the growth of our global business. This includes development of new chemical processes suitable for implementation at commercial scale, as well as chemistry and engineering improvement of our current operations.


This role requires organic chemistry/process chemistry knowledge, as well as work experience in “wet” process laboratories. The Process Chemistry Research Associate will conduct a hands-on laboratory-based program to develop commercial manufacturing processes as part of a cross-functional team of process chemists, analytical chemists and engineers. This includes support during all phases of process development, with responsibilities from early stage ideation to implementation and/or commissioning of commercial plants.


More specifically, your responsibilities include:


  • Strict observance and adherence to required and approved FMC safety procedures
  • Operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment
  • Independently plan and perform experimental work in line with project needs and as per guidance from colleagues and managers
  • Interpretation and correlation of analytical results and experimental output
  • Support scale-up work and troubleshooting in operations
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Review (QAR) to qualify new/alternative starting material/intermediate suppliers
  • Effectively document and transfer technology and know-how for engineering design
  • Report results of laboratory work for regular management updates and maintain documentation in line with company and STC standard and guidance

We also imagine that you have:

  • MS or BS degree in Organic Chemistry
  • Minimum 1-5 years R&D experience in agriculture, pharmaceutical, fine or specialty chemical industry required - fresh graduates are also welcomed to apply
  • Hands-on experience working with process chemistry at laboratory scale
  • Background in a technical field and skills in IT is an advantage
  • Manufacturing and/or scale-up experience will be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information with global internal and external partners is required
  • Flexible work schedules to accommodate specific requirements in relation to laboratory and pilot plant research campaigns
