Special Accounts Manager, Heartland (Remote Location)

Business/Function Overview: 


The Special Accounts Manager (SAM) will focus their time on establishing commercial and technical relationships with seed companies, starter fertilizer suppliers, starter fertilizer equipment manufactures, and sweet corn and processed vegetable producers in the mid-west.  This individual will work closely with the local FMC Sales teams, Technical Service teams, and the Regional Sales leadership in the mid-west.  The SAM will utilize their business and technical skills to gain access to and build relationships with decision makers in these adjacent business sectors to expand and create opportunities for growth.  By engaging with key decision makers in these markets, the SAM will provide strategic partnership to position FMC fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides directly or indirectly to expand FMC brands with retailers and growers.  The SAM will also work with the Marketing team to establish commercial plans to drive sales opportunities.




  • Collaborate with Heartland Management and Tech Service team to identify key supply and manufacturing companies in adjacent markets to engage
  • Identify key influencers in the markets and develop a strategy to establish support relationships
  • Implement strategy to grow and establish strong network and relationships with the organizations.
  • Utilize technical expertise to identify and develop opportunities for the use of FMC products either on the acre (seed companies and sweet corn/processed vegetable companies) or in conjunction with suppliers of starter fertilizer and specialized application equipment for increased sales
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to create, position, and implement marketing programs to drive product usage on seed corn acres that are currently established such as Pioneer, Beck’s, and Remington Seeds.
  • Develop network, build relationships and begin to drive sales opportunities with companies such as Syngenta Seeds, Dekalb/Asgrow, and Wyfells Hybrids. 
  • Engage starter fertilizer companies and application equipment companies to gain support and potentially co-promotion opportunities for their products/equipment and products such as Ethos XB, Capture LFR and Xyway LFR.


Required Education:


  • BS in Agronomy, M.S. preferred.




  • 2-10 years’ experience in technical support, selling chemical crop protection, seed or agronomy services
  • Certified Crop Advisor or equivalent certification desired
  • Excellent speaking, writing, and computer skills
  • Proven ability to effectively transfer technically complex information to an audience with more limited technical expertise
  • Ability to position both technical and commercial offers to key influencers
  • Demonstrates ability to negotiate with middle to senior management
  • Ability to build and sustain strong business relationships with customers and teammates
