Agronomist for FMC Nordics

As our Agronomist (technical manager), you will join the Nordic team, which currently consists of a technical manager, a business development manager in Sweden & Finland. The Commercial Lead for the Nordics, Michael, is responsible for sales in Denmark and Norway.

Our primary goal as a team is to drive sales in the Nordic countries, and we are typically working with 13-14 large wholesale customers as well as our end users – the farmers.

This position is based in Sweden at a Home office.

FMC is one of the biggest players in the crop protection business, and has the full line of scientific product development, from discovery to final sales.

At our European Innovation Center (EIC) in Hørsholm, you will step into a multicultural environment with approx. 130 colleagues with 27 different nationalities. EIC is focused on R&D, and EIC have recently become the Global Plant Health Center for FMC.

At EIC, we manage everything from IT, procurement and HR to logistics, planning, registration, marketing, sales, and distribution.

While maintaining our current crop protection portfolio, we are pivoting towards an increased focus on the development of biologicals and a more sustainable product portfolio.


Support our commercial efforts with agronomical insight

Your role in the team will be to provide agronomical (technical) support to further strengthen our commercial efforts. This might entail giving presentations to customers, local advisory services, and farmers, as well as giving local input to FMC projects and providing local data to internal business cases.

As our agronomical lighthouse on crop protection and biologicals, you can look forward to:

  • Planning and evaluating trials
  • Demonstrating products at field walks, exhibitions, and farm shows
  • Giving agronomical input to marketing
  • Providing customers, local advisory services, and farmers with agronomical (technical) guidance 
  • Handling claims
  • Providing knowledge into the business case process

As this is a Nordic role, you can expect to travel about 10 to 20 days a year (under normal circumstances), and we typically travel 1-2 days at a time. Though, as you will be joining a newly established team, needs may change in the future.


Responsible and communicative agronomist

To thrive in this position, you must be comfortable navigating in a work environment where two days are seldom the same. You might expect your week to look a certain way, but come Friday, 80% may have turned out differently – and you are okay with that.

In addition, we imagine that you:

  • Have a degree in agronomy either from university or an agricultural school
  • Are communicative and enjoy sharing your specialist knowledge in an empathetic and positive way, adding value to whomever you speak to
  • Are fluent in one of the Nordic languages (Swedish or Finnish is preferable)
  • Speak English effortlessly
