Position Overview

 

The Test & Defect Manager works closely with project delivery teams and functional leaders to define strategies and execute the planning and delivery of testing and defect management activities to deliver projects in the Enterprise Governance and Continuous Improvement organization.

This role is expected to partner with the Governance Council Functional COEs, GPOs, Realization Management, and Corporate IT (IT Design Owners) to ensure successful testing and defect management execution with intentional focus towards establishing design scalability for expansion and optimization and safeguarding against degradation of global design template.

 

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage testing phases, test scenario planning and defect management, including metrics and reporting for related activities
  •  Coordinate and Escalate with the Integrated Projects Delivery teams, Governance Council, and business users for all testing planning, execution and for defect management and issue resolution
  • Ensure comprehensive testing scenarios are identified, planned, and developed to successfully execute testing against all impacted scope of a project, including new and existing process and solutions, WRICEFs and regression impacts
  • Ensure cross functional coordination for end-to-end process alignment
  • Work closely with Deployment, Data Migration, and Readiness teams to ensure Testing and Defect Management needs are incorporated into the respective plans and dependent activities are executed across the various teams for
    • Oversight and partnership with Deployment to identify timing and dependencies of system readiness for testing phases and the resulting defect management resolution periods
    • Oversight and quality assurance of Data Migration dependencies and data readiness for testing activities are executed for successful testing scenarios, partnership in management of data related defect resolution
    • Partnership with the Readiness Lead, Functional COEs, Learning & Development Manager, and Communications & Engagement Coordinator to identify areas of business change and implications
  • Development and execution to Testing & Defect Management playbooks for use across EGCI and projects executed at all levels of the corporation (local, functional, and enterprise)
  • Participation in internal and external project related audits related to demonstrate adherence to FMC controls

 

Skillsets Required:

  • Functional / Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of testing, defect management, and triage concepts, strategies and their application to tactical execution of project activities
    • Strong understanding of the integration of the various Level 3 processes
    • Strong understanding of managing triage across activities to ensure prioritization of testing scenarios and issue resolution is completed for success of multiple project delivery
    • Strong understanding of managing transitions between project phases and the different objectives of each testing phase within a project to deliver operationally prepared solutions
    • Project management experience to ensure adherence to governance, controls and best practices
    • S/4 HANA, Solution Manager, and Testing / Defect Management software experience is a plus
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences
    • Ability to influence sound decision making
    • Can drive change and tactfully resolve situations of conflict
    • Ability to define a problem, analyze it, and develop a comprehensive recommendation for resolution
    • Ability to identify a gap or an area “falling between the cracks” and take steps to ensure it is addressed; this may include volunteering to drive an area outside of defined responsibilities but without a clear owner
