Packaging Engineer (m/f/d)
The F&P Tech Center Packaging Engineer is primarily responsible for driving key packaging optimization initiatives across FMC’s Formulation and Packaging network of operations within the EMEA region of focus. The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for executing on improvement initiatives and standardizing packaging designs and specifications. The Packaging Engineer will work closely with Operations, R&D and Marketing teams to identify improvement opportunities and evaluate priorities for focused improvements.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee vendor audits, qualifications, and implement Management of Change (MOC) procedures to maintain safety and regulatory standards in packaging
- Develop and enhance packaging specifications, including 3D modelling
- Coordinate with Improvement Engineers to best align strategic plan for improvement projects
- Support thorough root cause analyses to drive technical resolution related to quality complaints and production
- Develop necessary trial plans to test optimization ideas, lead testing with the plant, analyze data, and create report of findings
- Design packaging for new products, coordinate with R&D for material testing, and support product launches and project startups in the EMEA region
- Implement consistent packaging standards across all sites and ensure compliance with quality methods, regulations, and guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2-5 years of line layout and design or packaging experience in the chemical or food industry or related field
- Expert knowledge of packaging materials and packaging systems
- Knowledge of international hazardous materials regulations
- Ability to negotiate with internal and external organizations for packaging related resources and services
- Experience and knowledge with process safety management
- Lean six sigma certification and knowledge of quality assurance programs or statistical quality control is a plus
