Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) and Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES)


The Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) is a strategic business unit in FMC that monetizes the FMC active ingredient assets in the non-crop markets.  Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES) is one of the profit centers in GSS. We provide active ingredients to various customers, such as Vector (Mosquito control districts), Industrial Vegetation Management (IVM), and Consumer, (Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart). You will not find FMC-facing brands in the Consumer stores as the active ingredients are included in marketers’ brands like Scotts’ Ortho® Home Defense® or Garden Tech’s Sevin® Insect Killer. We are the “intel” inside those brands.


Business/Function Overview:

The Commercial Business Manager oversees the business functions and execution of the Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES) business. This position works closely with the key CES strategic segments, namely: Consumer, Vector, IVM, Specialty Products and International. The successful candidate will be required to have the right balance of business acumen, customer relations skills and strategy to enable FMC’s continued growth in these segments. The position reports to the Director, Consumer and Environmental Solutions.



  • Responsible and accountable to define, develop and implement the short term (0-3 years) and medium to long-term (3-6 years) growth plans for the CES business portfolio
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial and demand forecasting to support the CES strategic segments – Consumer, Vector, IVM, Specialty and International
  • Be an integral part of the CES annual budgeting process, including analytical, quantitative, and financial metrics to support the budget cycle
  • Drive for results by ensuring quarterly POS and EBIT targets are met
  • Maintain accurate demand planning and demand shaping strategies to enable that annual and 2–3-year product supply is met
  • Ascertain that segment upsides are correctly loaded into IBP to allow for supply chain to have visibility of the potential forecasted upsides
  • Responsible for accrual and pricing strategies, including exception escalation for the business
  • Works with and build strategic partnerships with executives and senior management personnel of the CES customer base, including, but not limited to, Spectrum, Scotts, Central Garden and PBI Gordon
  • Execute on the International strategy and position CES as the Center of Excellence for FMC non-crop active ingredient assets, particularly focusing on insecticides in the Consumer space
  • Execute on international strategic roadmap – Opportunistic ($1-$1.5M in 2023), Targeted ($5-$10M in 2027) and Program-Driven ($20-30M in 2032)     
  • Liaise with FMC internal and external stakeholders to implement the right business model to support the international strategy and growth
  • Collaborates within GSS and network with colleagues in the broader FMC organization to optimize business solutions and maximize the value to FMC




Bachelor’s degree required

Post-graduate degree – MA/MBA desired


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of commercial experience in customer relationship management
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in insecticides, herbicides, fungicides as well as combination products for the market environment
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
  • Strong financial background with ability to use financial data to inform strategy and business goals
  • General knowledge in Industrial Vegetation Management (IVM) and Mosquito abatement strategies (Vector)
  • Experience in developing and executing commercial agreements as well as proficiency in contract negotiation and cross-functional project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of interpreting marketing research data to inform execution and strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence for positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability manage executive level confidential information
  • Analytically strong with attention to detail and sound decision-making skills
  • Ability to deliver solutions in a changing and challenging environment
  • Ability to thrive and effectively operate in a highly dynamic and informal environment
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time
