Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer will provide Electrical and Instrumentation support to daily maintenance activities and its team in a manufacturing plant regulated by OSHA Process Safety Management. This role is expected to drive root cause identification of issues impacting the overall asset utilization as well as providing timely, accurate analysis and recommendations to eliminate defects and improve operations performance .


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day to day electrical and instrumentation support to the plant site.
  • Supports continuous improvement by providing specifications and designs for electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Accurately adheres to the Process Safety Management requirements and provide required support, especially on Management of Change
  • Leads investigations to determine root cause of  electrical and instrumentation failures using tools like Failure Mode and Effect Analysis and Why Tree. In addition, lead the implementation of defined action items to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Works with local team, procurement and vendors to coordinate and execute repairs or purchase of electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Develops Bill of Materials (BOM) for Electrical and Instrumentation equipment
  • Develops and update maintenance plans (preventive and predictive) for electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Participates as the electrical and instrumentation engineering resource for capital project teams. This includes writing project scope, approving diagrams, participation in Process Hazard Reviews, and developing required procedures and training.
  • Mentors and supports the maintenance technicians in your area of responsibility
  • Support the reliability program plans to improve the asset utilization


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in electrical or related discipline or 7+ years of experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a high hazard chemical environment
  • Experience with Process Safety Management, especially on the Management of Change element
  • Experience with Maintenance Processes like Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, Planning and Scheduling
  • Experience in the design, specification and installation of electrical systems
  • Demonstrated work experience in the design, specification, and installation of instrumented control systems like interlocks, relay logic, control valves and instruments
  • Demonstrated use of key performance indicators and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience recommending, implementing and tracking performance of solutions and design changes
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of bringing innovation to the mechanical engineering function collaborating with others, taking risks and developing tangible initiatives.
  • Show a level of curiosity to solicit input, asks questions and learn from others.
  • Take ownership to meet commitments in an ethical way and accepts responsibility from one’s  choices without blaming others.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Overall Equipment Utilization to lead improvements
  • Knowledge of SAP Systems
  • Familiarity with mechanical reliability processes
