The Environmental Specialist will be accountable for site compliance with air, water, waste, and other environmental regulatory and internal program requirements based on the specific needs of the sites. Ensure that site personnel have the capability to meet and exceed environmental standards and performance expectations while fostering a respectful and ethical work environment that is aligned with the company’s core values.



  • Provide technical expertise, work as an environmental specialist.
  • Lead environmental compliance program for the site to ensure zero notifications of violation with NPDES, Corrective Action and Title V Permit.
  • Develop site Environmental Compliance calendar and drive items to timely completion.
  • Lead environmental performance continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare and submit required reporting to federal, state and local agencies.
  • Lead preparation and negotiation of permit applications.
  • Complete environmental regulation applicability determinations.  
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, site(s) procedure development and updates, routine and non-routine activities such as environmental impact assessments of site(s) projects or process changes.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, prepare required documentation, schedule any required testing and provide additional follow-up documentation as required.
  • Lead and or participate in investigation of environmental incidents, implement system improvements to reduce potential for future events, and record environmental deviations in the FMC SIMS system.
  • Lead and participate in 1st party environmental audits and coordinate site(s) 2nd party environmental audits and act as site representative with federal and state environmental agencies and respond to requests or notifications from environmental agencies.
  • Represent environmental issues in community interactions.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training.
  • Manage site waste profiles, including developing profiles, waste characterization forms, NESHAP forms, LDRs and work with TSDFs for approvals.
  • Develop environmental cost forecast and execute spend according to plan




  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Health, Safety & Environmental or equivalent experience



  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance, chemical industry preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (air, water, land, RCRA, etc.) 
  • Takes ownership to act and to drive progress and deliver on commitments in an ethical way while owning the outcome resulting from one’s choices.
  • Thinks broadly, anticipates obstacles and leverage resources to drive desired outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, regulatory agents, and leaders at all levels
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Leadership experience to address important issues, lead during difficult and unpopular decisions and to engage in difficult conversations
