Business/Function Overview

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the quality leader role is accountable for managing efficient and effective Quality Lab functions to ensure that finished products, raw materials, and effluents are tested according to FMC specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality control best practices. Ensure that laboratory resources have the capability to meet and exceed excellence standards and performance expectations while fostering a respectful and ethical work environment that is aligned with the company’s core values.



  • Leads improvement in Environmental, Health and Safety Performance.
  • Manages 100% compliance of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements including incident reporting & audits, safe completion of life critical activities, process safety, and laboratory safety.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in work systems, processes, and people development
  • Ensures direct report development including their empowerment, 100% training requirement compliance, performance, and accountability.
  • Manages fixed and variable costs to department budgeted levels and seek support for capital and analytical improvements.
  • Ensures that analysis of raw materials, in process samples and finished product meets applicable regulatory, FMC, and customer requirements.
  • Ensures an effective Quality Control system is in place by using lab best practices.
  • Leads continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, practices, and instrumentation.
  • Develops, validates, documents, and issues all required policies, procedures, work instructions and analytical methods to meet global registration requirements.
  • Leads method transfer qualifications from research & development to the site laboratory.
  • Interprets the relevance and meaning of analytical data to the manufacturing process and advise manufacturing unit(s) around data quality issues or any changes in data.
  • Works with the Mobile Site Tech Center Leader and the Stine Research & Development team on the evaluation of new product opportunities for the site.
  • Maintains lab instrumentation with preventative maintenance programs and renewal plan.
  • Sets and approves laboratory work schedule, authorizing overtime as needed.


Required Education

B.S. Degree, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Quality Engineering



  • 5+ Years chemical lab experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting analytical results as well as method development
  • Expertise with NIR, HPLC, GC and/or Mass Spectrometry, strongly preferred
  • Experience with analytical and regulatory requirements to provide support for the Aqueous Waste Treatment Plant
  • Experience in SAP and Microsoft
  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001
  • Strong computer skills and understanding of electronic data
  • Leadership experience to address important issues, lead during difficult and unpopular decisions and to engage in difficult conversations.

  • Thinks broadly, anticipates obstacles, and leverage resources to drive to desired outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, and leaders at all levels
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
