The Remediation Porfolio Manager will be senior contributor to the FMC Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Remediation and Governance Teams, developing strategy for and managing the performance of a diverse and complex remediation portfolio. This role will be recognized as a leader in the organization and act as advisor to management and business partners in areas of expertise.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and oversee strategy for FMC’s remediation portfolio, providing direct support to the Director of EHS Remediation and VP of Operations.
  • Own the team’s project management process (rCDP) and ensure adequate cost controls and engineering rigor on all large remediation projects.
  • Optimize portfolio-wide programs, including site divestment/redevelopment and OMM.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external reporting, communications, and other internal client groups and functions to ensure continued compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements
  • Drive site recoveries across the portfolio and develop with the PMs an effective tracking mechanism.
  • Oversee and manage the implementation and adoption of master service agreements with preferred environmental consultants, laboratories and remedial contractors, including quarterly check-ins and status updates.
  • Expertly communicate with management, team members, and other stakeholders on status, strategies, costs, progress, and risks affecting the remediation portfolio
  • Identify and track emerging issues and trends in the field of remediation and communicate relevant matters with group leadership and other stakeholders
  • Mentor junior remediation staff to ensure appropriate workload and skill development
  • Serve as a senior reviewer of major technical decisions made within the remediation portfolio
  • Serve as a liaison to operations directors in the business on remediation-like projects
  • Participate in M&A due diligence and other corporate initiatives related to EHS and remedial obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Remediation Program and lead improvement projects, as identified.

 

Required Education

 

BS in Engineering, Science, or a related field. MS preferred.

 

Qualifications

 

  • More than 10 years of environmental engineering or project management experience with at least 5 years of working with federal or state environmental agencies on remediation issues resulting in a sound understanding of USEPA and state agency policies and procedures, patterns of agency action and non-action, and typical responses.
  • Success in managing remedial field project, including construction, decontamination, and demolition activities.
  • Experience negotiating and communicating with key stakeholders and determining strategy within the context of a remediation project.
  • Ability to make quick decisions based on limited information, sound judgment, and practical experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical and organizational management and the financial aspects of project management.
  • Proven leadership in complex situations. This position requires someone who is able to make decisions, develop and enforce department policies, and handle themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Expert communication and organizational skills.
  • Approximately 25% overnight travel
