FMC has an immediate opening for a motivated Senior R&D Data Engineer at Stine Research Center in Newark, DE. We are an R&D-based business, dependent upon the introduction of new products to deliver a competitive advantage in the agrochemical industry. You will be part of a team that is adopting the mindset, agility and processes of a technology company while drawing on our 100+ years of experience in agriculture. Responsibilities

  • Drive and execute the vision for data and analytics strategy supporting a wide spectrum of data needs ranging from large scale data management, cloud infrastructure, modern data architecture, data science use cases through rapid prototyping
  • Engineer and deliver high quality data pipelines for data warehousing and big data solutions factoring in data quality, performance management, security, and scalability
  • Lead and participate in architecture discussions, recommend design choices, and execute projects balancing strategic and tactical goals
  • Collaborate and foster cross-functional relationships with data scientists, application developers and business stakeholders to understand data needs and build reliable solutions
  • Mentor and grow a team of data engineers and help accelerate data driven culture

 

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field, M.S. preferred Demonstrated expertise in SQL, database design, data modeling and data warehousing
  • Hands on development experience building data and analytics solutions, traditional and unstructured data, and drive insights
  • Modern data warehouses, ETL/ELT data pipelines to process structured/semi-structured/unstructured data  
  • Working knowledge of DevOps model, automated workflows, associated CI/CD components and containers (git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes etc.)
  • Experience implementing analytic platforms in at least one of the major cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) unlocking potential to explore and experiment at scale
  • Familiarity with one or more visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker etc.)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to share quantitative and qualitative analysis in a clear, concise, and actionable manner
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast paced and fun environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience working with large data sets (Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Redshift, etc.)
  • Good understanding of data privacy, GDPR and best practices around data encryption
  • Working knowledge of MDM, Data Virtualization and microservices based architecture
  • Prior experience of distributed computing and data management executing batch and real-time data pipelines to tackle large scale systems
  • Hands on experience building on-prem, hybrid and multi-cloud data solutions to support enterprise-wide data democratization
  • Project management experience managing vendors and system integrators to lead data engagements and drive adoption
  • Development experience in at least one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, R) and creating interoperable data exchange mechanisms (APIs, Webhooks etc.)
