Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) and Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES)

 

The Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) is a strategic business unit in FMC that monetizes the FMC active ingredient assets in the non-crop markets.  Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES) is one of the profit centers in GSS. We provide active ingredients to various customers, such as Vector (Mosquito control districts), Industrial Vegetation Management (IVM), and Consumer, (Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart). You will not find FMC-facing brands in the Consumer stores as the active ingredients are included in marketers’ brands like Scotts’ Ortho® Home Defense® or Garden Tech’s Sevin® Insect Killer. We are the “intel” inside those brands.

 

 

Business/Function Overview:

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for the daily management and revenue of assigned Consumer strategic accounts to support the growth of the Consumer and Environmental Solutions (CES) business. This position works closely with CES Business Director, the Commercial Business Manager and IVM and Vector segment leads to deliver forecasted business results. The successful candidate will be required to have the right balance of business and marketing acumen as well as the ability to develop, manage and execute end-to-end Consumer projects to increase FMC active ingredient footprint and share of wallet with customers. The position reports to the Director, Consumer and Environmental Solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for successful management of 7-10 assigned Consumer accounts to achieve quarterly forecasted sales
  • Ability to develop, design and implement growth projects with FMC active ingredients to increase share of wallet with customers
  • Manage the forecasting and demand plan for assigned accounts – short-term (1Q), medium-term (4Q) and long-term (36Q)
  • Ensure Key Account Plans strategically inform short term (0-3 years) and medium to long term (3-6 years) of growth projects with assigned accounts
    • Additionally, the Key Account plans must align with GSS and CES strategy and Goals
  • Demonstrated keen knowledge of the Consumer space and customers and be able to predict marketing shifts to proactively position FMC solutions
  • Works with and build strategic partnerships with executives and senior management personnel for assigned accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to grow the Consumer business inorganically by identifying and executing on new accounts
  • Manage the monthly Consumer project meetings as well as responsibility for CES Project Steering Committee slides, including Consumer as well as liaising with Vector and IVM segment leads
  • Lead and utilize competitive analysis, demand modeling, pricing, promotion strategies, program management and interface with marketing agency for the IVM and Vector segments
  • Collaborates within GSS and network with colleagues in the broader FMC organization to optimize business solutions and maximize the value to FMC
    • This includes working closely with regulatory, legal, supply chain, customer service and other functional stakeholders
    • Additionally, interface with finance include budgeting, forecasting, program development and reconciliation

 

 Education:

Bachelor’s degree required

Post-graduate degree – MA/MBA desired

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in customer relationship management
  • Strong B2B experience and knowledge of selling both technical and branded products into the channel
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in insecticides, herbicides, fungicides as well as combination products for the Consumer segment
  • General knowledge in Industrial Vegetation Management (IVM) and Mosquito abatement strategies (Vector)
  • Strong liaison and relationship management with procurement, R&D, regulatory and other critical functional areas
  • Demonstrated sound decision-making, judgement and aptitude for problem solving to determine solutions for customers
  • Experience in developing commercial agreements as well as proficiency in contract negotiations and execution
  • Proficiency in SKU creation and label registration management
  • Demonstrated and cross-functional project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence for positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability manage executive level confidential information
  • Analytically strong with attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver solutions in a changing and challenging environment
  • Ability to thrive and effectively operate in a highly dynamic and informal environment
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
