Business/Function Overview

The Sales Manager, Plant Health will be responsible for leading and developing the Canadian Plant Health Sales team. This role will report directly to the Canadian Plant Health Lead. The successful candidate will help manage the Plant Health Sales team’s performance and development, customer relationships, and will partner with their cross functional team to set and implement commercial sales strategies. This position is to be based at FMC’s Calgary Office or a home-office based in Western Canada.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the utilization of Plant Health resources (sales, technical support, product development, marketing) to achieve optimum account profitability and to provide value added services to accounts.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with major customers
  • Provide leadership and field knowledge to aid in the development of marketing initiatives
  • Implement performance management process to create and maintain a high functioning team
  • Focus on employee development opportunities to grow and expand individual and team capabilities
  • Generate strategies for success in the field with your team and customers
  • Contribute to the formation of FMC marketing, sales and communication strategies
  • Identify and communicate customer needs to leadership and influence FMC response
  • Prepare and deliver effective sales and marketing presentations
  • Align team on proper sales and planning process for key customer management
  • Accountable for team and territory sales targets that align to organizational goals
  • Identify, develop and lead new business opportunities with emphasis on return on investment
  • Monitor competitor activity, ensuring response strategies are formulated and communicated
  • Direct sales strategies for distributor accounts in the territory
  • Responsible for cost effective resource utilization and budgeting
  • Ability to travel within the district with the expectation of 40% nights away

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or business field required

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of people leadership experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in customer relationship management
  • Experience in the agricultural industry preferred
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
  • Must be detail oriented, results focused and a self-starter with strong follow up skills
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated performance in delivering business results
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and ability to determine solutions for customers
  • Strong financial background
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software 
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
