About the Position:

 

The SAP Basis Specialist is a senior, subject matter expert role in the SAP BASIS Administration team responsible for the health and management of the SAP system landscape. That includes always maintaining system availability, resilience, data security and meeting or exceeding all relevant KPIs and SLAs.

 

This position participates in all aspects of production support activities and a wide range of IT as well as business projects. It requires hands-on expertise to perform system migrations, support pack/enhancement pack installations, and to lead technical projects, including SAP upgrades in S4/HANA, BW/4HANA, FIORI, BODS, SLT, GTS, ECC, CRM, HCM, Success Factors, GRC, PI/PO, Solution Manager, and SAP cloud-delivered solutions BTP, ARIBA, and CPI.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor, tune, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues on all SAP instance pipelines, related applications, and operating systems.
  • Install Support Package Stacks and enhancement Packages and move transports through the system pipelines via ChaRM and TMS.
  • Provide SAP Application, Database, and Operating system support as defined by the Technical Applications Manager and adhere to our service level agreements.
  • Plan and manage application, database, or operating system upgrades and related activities to ensure that service levels, objectives, and schedules are met.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, testing, and production environments. Perform database life cycle management, i.e., upgrades, patches, and migrations as required to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Work with data center operations teams to design and implement controls for new technologies, systems, and supporting infrastructure to ensure systems are available and recoverable according to our service level agreements.
  • Document and communicate processes and procedures to the Basis team and internal and external IT customers.
  • Work with the Technical Applications Manager to ensure our systems are available and secure.
  • Work with SAP technical and functional teams to establish continuous improvement maintenance activities across all systems.

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years overall experience in the Information Technology Field
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale SAP application administration, performance tuning, and disaster planning and recovery in multiple SAP product families: S4/HANA, BW/4HANA, FIORI, BODS, SLT, GTS, ECC, CRM, HCM, Enterprise Portal, GRC, PI/PO, and Solution Manager.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL server, with experience in managing and optimizing SQL Server or other relational databases.
  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases, maintenance, performance tuning, upgrading, and administering such as SAP HANA and Microsoft SQL servers. Strong Oracle DBA experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting SAP applications on Linux and Windows operating systems required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Solution Manager, including ChaRM, to manage transports in SAP systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP SaaS applications - SAP CPI, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Ariba, and success factors desired.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and migrating large-scale SAP enterprise-wide applications and databases to new platforms and versions.
  • Demonstrated strong hands-on expertise with NetWeaver JAVA stack.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning and execution.
  • Working knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS).
  • Working knowledge of cloud service providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

 

Education:

B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience.
