About Role:
In close partnership with FMC’s Global Accounting COE in Ireland, this role will support the monthly Local GAAP and US GAAP closing processes for FMC Corporation’s Turkey entity, with a focus on non-standard processes and knowledge-centric accounting entries and judgment areas. This individual will be responsible for ensuring FMC Turkey’s local GAAP S4 Hana (SAP) accounting ledger is maintained in line with local statutory and tax rules, as well as the preparation and review of related annual statutory and tax filings. This will also require this individual to stay up to date about the changes in the local statutory and compliance changes, as well as the implementation of the same where appropriate. This role will require consistent collaboration with FMC’s COEs in Ireland and Geneva.
Using your strong understanding of local statutory and tax requirements and financial standards as well as company policies and other regulatory requirements, your main responsibilities will be,
System And Process Responsibilities
- Partner with FMC's Accounting COE in Ireland to support Local GAAP and US GAAP closing processes, ensuring the reported numbers are complete and accurate. This is primarily for FMC Turkey, but also for certain other EMEA entities for USGAAP reporting purposes only.
- Perform revenue recognition-related processes for responsible entities, such as quarterly revenue recognition control, rebate accrual reviews, product returns reserves, and bad debt reserves, among others
- Prepare certain monthly accounting accruals, business partnering with FP&A and submit to Ireland COE for processing
- Review GL account details to ensure OPEX is properly accrued for each quarter
- Review the balance sheet reconciliations (prepared by Ireland COE) to ensure all balances are appropriately supported
- Support FMC’s quarterly income tax provisioning process
- Prepare and submit statutory financial statements based on local GAAP principles, engaging with 3rd party providers where necessary
- Ensure FMC’s Turkey local GAAP ledger/books are compliant with local tax and accounting requirements – maintain a clear reconciliation between US and local ledger results
- Engage with third-party providers to support the annual corporation tax process
- Prepare statistical reports, including annual treasury reports
- Support other ad hoc statutory/tax filings and payments
- Lead the local statutory external audit process
- Support tax audits, as needed, closely collaborating with various FMC teams in line with corporate guidelines
- Maintain relationships with all relevant 3rd party service providers
- Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organization
- Research and communicate upcoming regulatory/accounting and tax changes for Turkey to central teams and support the implementation of the same
- Prepare cash forecasts
- Prepare non-functional currency balance forecasts
- Promptly respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Comply with Global Accounting COE and business unit service delivery guidelines
People Responsibilities
- This role reports to the Regional COE Manager and has one direct report based in Turkey
- Actively manage own workload and escalate inefficiencies and concerns to the Regional COE Manager
- Achieve deadlines set by leadership and the business and proactively monitor and raise instances where deadlines cannot be met in a timely fashion
- Assist with the creation and modification of training programs and content (as needed)
- Function as a member of a team, demonstrating effective business partnering
Your Qualificitaions:
Functional/technical competencies (incl. education)
- Professional locally recognized accountancy qualification
- Extensive experience with Turkey's statutory accounting and local tax rules and regulations
- Experience with US GAAP
- MS Office (advanced user of Excel), SAP experience
Personal competences
- Fluent Turkish and English is a must
- 7-10 years of total experience
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in either the Big 4 or a multinational organization
- Experience working within a matrix organization
- Solution-oriented, proactive, and self-starter
