Function Overview:

 

Accountable for collecting and communicating a clear view of target customer insights and then collaborating with BU marketing and sales team members to develop and implement marketing plans tailored to those individual farm enterprise segments. Assists in implementing BU marketing strategies. Strengthens the development of strategic planning with Regional Portfolio teams and regional product launch teams. Works with area sales teams and account managers to convert segment marketing plans into area sales plans and account plans.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Develops Customer Segment Plan

 

    • Creates a segment specific marketing plan aligned with BU plan
    • Insure that detailed planning elements are reflected in specific sales, marketing and field development demand creation activities.
  • Critical elements of the segment plan should be developed in concert with the Planning Manager and annual SMP planning process.
  • Collaborates with local sales teams and KAMs to hardwire Segment Market Plans with Distributor and Retailer Sales plans

 

Supports Alignment with Business Unit Annual Marketing Plan and Portfolio Strategies

  • Maintains intimate knowledge of grower segments and trends (INSIGHTS) in assigned area
    • Understands and anticipates changes in crop markets, customers, competition, and technologies via market research/competitive intelligence and frequent interactions with sales team and customers in the field.
    • Understands the value attributes of offerings for value chain
  • Provides input to 2-year Business Unit strategic planning (SMP 4-P planning) based on local market knowledge of key grower enterprise segments for existing and new product launches.

 

Supports Area Sales and Marketing Plan Implementation

  • Executes field marketing activity (campaign) plans for segments of responsibility (field days, required sales sheets, etc.)
  • Monitors the implementation of all elements of the segment plans, providing timely feedback to function leaders to ensure plans are successfully executed
    • Distributor, Retailer & Grower sales
    • Field day & conference activities
    • MC & Digital campaigns

    • Key Influencer touchpoints
    • Sales Support investments

Required Education:

 

  • BS in Agriculture (or related field) or demonstrated competence in marketing required
  • MBA preferred

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5-10 years sales and marketing experience.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in the agricultural crop industry required.
  • Product Management experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of marketing process, through training and experience, with emphasis in the development of business plans and communications.
  • Knowledge of the Agricultural Market as it relates to market dynamics.
  • Ability to balance issues and reach an appropriate decision using sound judgment.
  • Ability to drive decisions and bring conclusion to issues.
