SUMMARY: Supports manufacturing operation by performing a variety of duties. Operates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains area equipment, supports changeover process, handles and verifies material, updates documents. In the exercise of the duties, complies with applicable procedures, standards, guidelines and regulations. Excludes operation of DCS’s and operation of distillation columns.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows, participates in, supports, and/or leads Core Values, including Safety, Occupational Health (OH), Environmental, Ethics Compliance; Process Safety Management (PSM), Contamination Prevention (CP) and/or Quality System (International Standard for Organization (ISO 9000)) requirements.

 

Reads, interprets and follows oral and written instructions such as operations' guidelines, plant orders, standard operating conditions and operating procedures to properly operate the unit.

 

Operate and troubleshoots process equipment such as reactors, centrifuges, dryers, distillation columns, compressors, pumps, etc. to make quality product and meet business needs.

 

Performs changeover related duties such as open, disassemble, clean, close and assemble equipment, validation of analysis, among others.

 

Records, gathers, and interprets process data (pressure, temperature, flow rates, levels, among others) to comply with regulations/permits, to monitor/evaluate process status, and initiate changes as needed.

 

Performs roles in emergency response teams such as Fire Brigades, Integrated Emergency Response team (IERT) and Rescue teams.

 

Performs basic reactive & preventive maintenance such as equipment/process devices replacement, lubrication, cleaning and inspection of key safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, safety showers, emergency lights, among others.

 

Participates in overall Operating unit performance improvement activities such as improvements, quality incident investigations, capital project team, submitting / tracking/ implementing ideas, among others.

 

Performs basic & complex material handling activities (liquids and/or solids) such as loading / unloading, charging, and packing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities.

Demonstrated knowledge of FMC Core's Values, including. Safety, Occupational Health (OH), Environmental, Ethics Compliance and Respectful Workplace; Process Safety Management (PSM), Contamination Prevention (CP) and Quality System (International Standard for Organization (ISO 9000)) guidelines, standards and procedures.

 

Demonstrated knowledge in basic physics including temperature, physical properties, mechanics of fluids, and of operating (campaign & changeover) chemical processes equipment including reactors, centrifuges, dryers, compressors, pumps.

 

Demonstrated ability to interpret / analyze data and initiate appropriate action.

 

Demonstrated ability to operate computers applications and hardware such as SAP, Microsoft Office.

 

Demonstrated basic knowledge of preventive maintenance processes such as lubrication and inspections.

Demonstrated skills to diagnose, troubleshoot, prepare equipment and perform minor maintenance work in order to resolve process and mechanical problems.

 

Demonstrated knowledge of emergency response team roles’ requirements.

 

Demonstrated ability to work/communicate effectively in a team-based environment.

 

Demonstrated ability to work independently in order to prioritize and manage time productively.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma, 2 to 3 years Post High School and/or associate degree in Chemical Manufacturing Operations, is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Communication in Spanish - good written and verbal communication is very essential. Fully bilingual - Spanish/English is preferred. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: General mathematical skills to perform inventory reconciliation, basic calculations such as material to be charged base on an analytical analysis result.

 

REASONING ABILITIES: Able to solve problems.

 

TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS: Forklift, handling explosives, fire brigade, HAZMAT and rescuer.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in the use of electrical/instrumentation tools and other related equipment.
