Indirect Tax Senior Specialist

Key Responsibilities

 

Your main responsibility will be to manage indirect tax compliance, reporting and litigation support for all the states wherever business operation exist in India with activities such as but not limited to guiding business team, filing indirect tax returns, submitting refund claims, performing account reconcilation, ensuring completion of audit or assessment with external parties, carrying out data validation, ensuring timely tax payments.

 

Some of the key responsibilities will be as follows:

 

  1. Ensuring timely and accurate compliance and reporting obligations including indirect tax returns, reconciliation, assessment, trackers, tax accounting, audit and notices;
  2. Partner with members from the business team required any any inputs from compliance and reporting obligations to ensure full alignment;
  3. Supporting the litigation matter including drafting and representing for various show cause notices / Appeal / past litigations related to GST, Excise, VAT / CST and Service Tax;
  4. Tax Planning, opportunity and optimizing efficiency through continuous evaluation and improvement process including monitoring recent changes on tax reporting and compliances including indirect tax policies.
  5. Ensuring all the supporting records are maintained for the tax compliance and reporting already completed as this will impact future audits;
  6. Communicating with with external and internal stakeholders on various indirect tax matters to bring the desired results and be compliant;
  7. Achieve deadlines set by leadership and the business and proactively monitor and raise instances where deadlines cannot be met in a timely fashion;
  8. Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organisation, achieving identified financial, process and talent goals;
  9. Support various regional projects and able identify the key risks and opportunities in the process;

 

 

Technical Knowledge/ Skills Requirement:

  1. Knowledge of SAP environment will be added advantage;
  2. Strong technical knowledge of GST and legacy indirect tax related laws and regulations is a must;
  3. Should have worked on computation of tax liability, tax credit availment and return filing;
  4. Relevant knowledge of representing matters before tax authority;
  5. Robust Knowledge of Microsoft excel and other data tools such as alteryx;
  6. Should have strong reiew, analytical, detail oriented, interpersonal skills and communication skills;
  7. Demonstrated ability to work under time pressure;
  8. Candidate should be capable of delivering work single-handedly;
  9. Preferably candidate have knowledge of Tax engine or determination (Mainly vertex);

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. Above 5 years of experience working in the field of indirect taxation;
  2. Should be qualified CA or equivalent degree of MBA;
  3. Candidate working in one of Big accounting firm or Large Manufacturing MNC will have an added advantage;
  4. Flexible in traveling to different tax offices;
