Business/Function Overview

FMC has an exciting opening for a Boiler Operator to join our company. The operator is responsible for maintaining proper operation of the Powerhouse equipment and systems while utilizing energy management principles.

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are limited to the following:

  • Operate boilers, air compressors, pumps and other equipment associated with operating powerhouse and facility equipment.
  • Monitors electrical systems and steam production and distribution for the site.
  • Perform water treatment chemical analysis and maintaining proper water chemistry for all chilled/domestic water, steam, condensate, and closed loop cooling water systems.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electronic controls calibration, testing, adjusting, balancing, and energy management systems for boiler operations.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools and ability to perform autonomous maintenance duties
  • Observe all Federal, State, local, and site regulations.
  • Provide input/assists with steam systems, domestic water, compressed air, nitrogen, chilled, and heating hot water systems.
  • Maintains availability for off-hours response as business needs require. This position may require alternate shift coverage.
  • Proficiency in Building Automation Systems (Ecostruxure, Rockwell, Andover systems such as Continuum, etc.).

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent Trade school or military training for powerhouse/boiler technology.
  • Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors. All weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50lbs and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, climb, lift, pull and/or push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop, and crouch.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and communicate with diverse groups, good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Predictive/Preventive Maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a self-managed individual, solve problems and make decisions. 
  • Strong mathematics foundation, problem solving, critical / analytical thinking.
  • Operates and maintains their area with a high level of ownership, accountability, and ethics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite (Work, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)

 

Additional Information

  • The Boiler/HVAC/R operator is a relief position. Normalized hours are Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM-2:00 PM. The Powerhouse is a 24/7 operation, that provides service to the site.  The relief position will be assigned a day shift (8 hours) but will be required to fill in for illness and vacations on a 12 hour rotation when needed (6:00 AM- 6:00 PM). 
  • This is an essential personnel job requiring work assignments on holidays and weekends when scheduled.
