The Global Procurement Function is a key enabler of the top and bottom-line performance of FMC.  Our team is comprised of professionals positioned around the world to partner with business leaders to ensure our customers’ expectations are exceeded, and our vendors view FMC as a customer of choice.  Our teams support all aspects of FMC in the making, selling, and delivering products to its customers. We are looking for the right person to help us drive our Procurement organization to the next level.

 

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Global Procurement Leader to drive the purchasing of direct raw materials, packaging materials, energy, and contract toll manufacturing for our formulations. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and executing global multi-year procurement strategies, overseeing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings while ensuring consistent supply and quality across all categories.

 

Your role is based at the FMC tower in Philadelphia, PA where you are required to work on-site for 3 days a week. You will report to the Global Procurement Director and are responsible for the leadership, growth, and success of an outstanding team reporting directly to you.

Global Strategic Procurement

  • You are the default “Chief Strategy Officer” of the global direct raw materials, packaging, and contract toll manufacturing for formulations. You are accountable to deliver complex, comprehensive and multi-year strategy which is symbiotic with the long term strategic growth aspirations of the company whilst simultaneously finding the most cost effective approach with a constant eye on risk management.
  • You believe that your role is that of a core integrator of the business, you have a 360-degree view and understanding of the business through profound collaboration with supply chain, operations, commercial, strategy, and finance to drive deeper penetration of profitable growth.
  • Your financial acumen surpasses that of your standard procurement expert, and you craft a strategic path with a P&L mindset. You understand that this mindset is critical to provide FMC with a competitive edge in the market place.

Talent Management

  • In this role you are responsible for the success and development of three Category Managers who each manage Sourcing Managers
  • You will work to provide guidance and support on the work they are conducting as well as in the management of their workload and prioritization.
  • You will be required to challenge their thought processes and identify areas for improvement and development.
  • You will guide your team in their journey of becoming excellent people managers themselves.
  • You will work closely with them on their opportunities for growth within FMC.
  • You believe that their successes and failures are yours to share.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, and 10+ years of experience in a global procurement leadership role, preferably within the chemical or adjacent industry.

Must-Have Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies that deliver cost savings and improve operational efficiency across diverse categories.
  • Demonstrated experience managing executive internal stakeholders and executive external supply partners.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, a proven influencer and integrator.
  • Deep understanding of the chemical industry, relevant market dynamics, and global supply chain complexities across all included categories (direct raw materials, packaging materials, energy, and contract toll manufacturing).
  • Experience managing and leading a geographically dispersed team of procurement professionals with diverse category expertise.
  • Experience in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an innovative mindset.
  • Results-oriented with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required.
  • Proficiency in relevant procurement software and systems.

 

Nice to Have Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in other Procurement categories.
  • Experience with sourcing and procurement technology solutions.
  • Exposure to organizational transformation efforts.
  • International experience.
  • Additional language skills beyond English.
  • MBA and/or another relevant post graduate degree or certification.
