Role Overview:

Your role is based at the FMC Tower in Philadelphia. You will report to the Global Category Leader, Formulation & Packaging, and Energy. Front and center of your everyday FMC will require you to display your commitment to our six core values: Integrity, Safety, Sustainability, Respect for People, Agility, and Customer Centricity. The Global Sustainable Energy Leader will be in the global procurement organization and work closely with the global sustainability team at a strategic level and plant operations on a tactical level.  Collaborating closely with other senior-level internal stakeholders to negotiate and execute electrical power and natural gas contracts across FMC's global footprint (a total of 26 Formulation and Active Ingredient manufacturing sites) to create a low-cost and reliable energy portfolio while evaluating the best renewable or clean energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

 

In addition, the Global Sustainable Energy Leader will also identify critical market conditions, regulations, and market structures to help evaluate potential savings opportunities and help develop our strategy to achieve FMC's ambitious goal of net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2035. The primary objectives of this role are based on strategy development with the sustainability organization that will create business cases that identify sustainability efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities for a short term and long-term roadmap.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a candidate that can hit the ground running and make a visible impact within a short period of time. You can anticipate the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive sourcing energy global strategy, that includes a roadmap to transition to renewable and clean energy options
  • Work in collaboration with the Plant Operations group to ensure leadership alignment on the strategy, progression, and execution of the strategy, and annual reviews and adjustments to align with stakeholder objectives
  • Analyze markets, regulations, and trends, including economic and geopolitical influences in markets where FMC operates
  • Engage with energy suppliers to get market intelligence on upcoming energy technologies in the next 3-5 years
  • Support global energy forecasting and budget planning and reporting activities
  • Work collaboratively with operations and finance teams on energy forecasting, financial modeling, and hedging strategies
  • Provide periodic category updates to the leadership team detailing key supplier initiatives, savings to target, category spend & trend analysis, greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
  • Own and manage key supplier relationships (e.g., refreshing, developing, and tracking metrics (KPIs/SLAs) as well as all associated contract life-cycle management activities (e.g., renewing expiring contracts, updating pricing, etc.)

 

Key Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required
  • 5+ years of experience working in the utility/energy industry
  • Experience in global energy markets and trading; understanding of energy markets, regulatory policies, and trends
  • Experience in energy markets, energy trading, power contract negotiations, energy regulations, renewable development, or energy generation technologies
  • Ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or evaluating new energy sourcing opportunities and technologies
  • Familiarity with renewable credit programs, renewable project development, power forecasting and scheduling, portfolio management theory, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources
  • Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as utilities, regional power planning agencies, renewable project developers, project investors, and renewable OEMs
  • Thorough understanding of Natural Gas and Electricity Hedging and Market Fundamentals
  • Experience working across regions in a multi-national organization
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, including excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Proficient in using ERP Systems, SAP preferred
  • International and domestic travel: 10 – 20%
