Business/Function Overview:

 

The role is for a Retail Market Manager (RMM) and the primary objective is to sell and support our portfolio with our agricultural customers. This key territory for FMC is in the Southeast corner of Minnesota including the cities of Albert Lea, Rochester, Owatonna, and Mankato. Target crop segments include primarily corn and soybeans, but also includes alfalfa and some specialties. With a strong sales base built on our strategic brands, our portfolio of insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides is expanding and creating prime opportunities for growth. With near-term plans to launch new brands into the market, the ability to quickly establish and energetically support strong relationships with channel partners and market influencers is an essential element to success as Retail Market Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, sales and support of FMC’s crop protection portfolio with retail customers
  • Focus on developing key customer relationships through service, support, and differentiation.
  • Assist the business by providing accurate and timely account plans that identify growth opportunities, inventories and forecasted needs for the season.
  • Develop strategies with internal and external teams to generate grower demand to help support your retail customers.
  • Prospect and develop new customer relationships to help grow and expand FMC’s footprint in the territory.
  • Set clear goals and work towards the targets, adjusting plans to compensate for market and weather shifts.
  • Prepare sales presentations, call plans, proposals, and reports for internal and external communication.
  • Collect and share market information to help the business make informed decisions around pricing, volumes, and market opportunities.
  • Requires 50% travel to service territory responsibilities.

 

Required Skills

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, related sciences, or business
  • Demonstrated sales ability with a minimum of 3 years sales experience.
  • Experience or history in agriculture a plus
  • Excellent communications skills including presentation and public speaking a must.
  • Makes decisions of a complex nature where independent judgment and creativity are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with a customer’s middle to senior management.
  • Ability to lead projects or special assignment to support the team or region a plus.
  • Proven track record with the ability to make impact on sales in a territory.
  • Serves as a valuable resource and a strong team player within the organization.

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agriculture or related Life Science
  • Certified Crop Advisor or MBA a plus
