Business/Function Overview:

Based at the FMC Tower in Philadelphia, PA this highly visible position will be part of the Global Logistics Leadership Team reporting into the Global Logistics Director. This role will partner with senior leaders and executives across the following functions: Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory Affairs & Government Affairs. We are seeking a highly motivated trade compliance expert to manage and progress FMC’s Global Trade Compliance program across all regions: North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia Pacific. Today, FMC participates in customs agency programs around the world such as ISA, CTPAT, & AEO. We remain committed to strong partnerships with agencies in key countries and we are looking for a candidate to oversee existing programs and to develop & implement a roadmap addressing future program scope.

 

Job overview/Key responsibilities:

  • Advance FMC’s existing Global Trade Compliance program, in partnership with Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, and Regional Import/Export teams
  • As a leader in the Global Logistics Organization, you will collaborate and maintain relationships with logistics and compliance personnel in all major regions (North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, & Asia Pacific)
  • Oversee a team of regional trade compliance personnel offering direction, guidance, & subject matter expertise
  • Accountable for ensuring that FMC conducts import/export activities in compliance with rules, regulations and policies enforced by government agencies
  • Responsible for driving tariff & duty mitigation strategies (Free Trade Agreements, Drawback, MTB, FTZ, Preferential Origin, etc.)
  • Utilize SAP Global Trade Solutions to identify and drive process improvements and efficiencies related to Compliance Management, Customs Management, and Sanction/Export Controls Management
  • Stay abreast on customs compliance alerts and announcements and coordinate response to minimize business impact and disruption
  • Coordinate Key Performance and Key Risk Indicators relating to import/export transactions and sanctions/export controls
  • Lead trade compliance training programs throughout the regions as well as general awareness updates for the broader Company

 

Skillset Required:

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Harmonized System (HS) codes
  • Extensive knowledge of current import/export regulations, policies, and laws affecting foreign trade
  • Proficiency with SAP system, preferably GTS; technology savvy
  • Process-driven, detail oriented, and analytical with strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency, drive for results on commitments, and able to manage multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to quickly build strong relationship with partners and create alignment
  • Works effectively in a cross functional team and able to influence outcomes
  • Critical thinking (analytical skills/creative solution)
  • Project management

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply Chain related field with 5+ years in various Trade Compliance roles
  • Certified Customs specialist or Licensed Customs Broker preferred but not required
