Role Description

The Sr. Manager position will be part of the Corporate Strategy & Development (CS&D) team at FMC. The broader CS&D team is responsible for developing FMC’s corporate strategic plan, driving pertinent strategic and commercial projects (on behalf of functions, regions and business units) and leading M&A for the enterprise. This role will report into the Director, Corporate Strategy & Development and will initially support the development of FMC’s ambitious 2030 strategic plan. Over the years, the CS&D team has served as a pipeline for high potential talent into the rest of the FMC organization.  

 

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, coordination, and execution of strategic projects across the organization, including the long-range strategic plan, organic growth strategy, new market entry, technology commercialization, and mergers / acquisitions
  • Craft and articulate the business case to inform investment on proposed initiatives
  • Manage commercial projects and/or initiatives that drive tangible top and bottom-line results in support of the 2030 strategic plan
  • Partner with the businesses and functional leaders across the organization, including Precision Agriculture, Plant Health, Regulatory, R&D, Commercial, and Marketing to identify and set priorities associated with individual initiatives
  • Work in close coordination with cross-functional teams comprised of global, regional, and functional stakeholders to successfully execute each project
  • Prepare and present materials to C-suite and global operating committee members on key topics and provide updates on critical pieces of work

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA is a plus

 

Skillsets Required

  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of professional work experience in corporate strategy area or 5+ years from a recognized strategy consulting firm
    • Experience in corporate an/or portfolio strategy, preferably acquired from a recognized consulting firm or at a major corporation
    • Prior exposure to the chemicals industry, agriculture or manufacturing is preferred, but is not mandatory

 

  • Functional / Technical Skills:
    • Demonstrated expertise with the strategy toolkit
    • Sound financial acumen
    • Strong written and oral professional communication skills
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams

 

  • Soft Skills:
  • Ability to develop structure and customized frameworks while navigating ambiguity to solve complex challenges and problems within the organization
  • Strong strategic thinking and familiarity with analytical tools with ability to use them to express ideas clearly, concisely, and logically
  • High-horsepower individual, capable of work independently under pressure with limited supervision
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to multitask and establish priorities
  • Takes measured and analytical approach to problem solving and pays attention to detail
  • Solid quantitative skills in financial modelling, valuation, business case development, etc.
  • Ability to challenge conventional thinking and bring forward innovative ideas and methods
  • Has high ethical standards and possesses maturity to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively in a heavily matrixed international organization and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to earn trust and build credibility across organization
