Regulatory and Development Lead, Africa

 

The Regulatory & Development Lead oversees all regulatory activities in Africa per national regulations for Plant Protection, including Biosolutions and precision agriculture, to maintain and authorize FMC's portfolio. The role involves leading the regulatory team, setting strategic foresight to sustain and grow the local business, and leading external regulatory advocacy. This position reports to the Regulatory Director EMEA.

 

 

What You'll Do With Us:

 

  • Provide regulatory expertise to develop a right to operate strategy, ensuring compliance with local requirements and exploring novel registration approaches within legal frameworks.
  • Track, review, and report on registration progress in Africa, coordinating efficacy trials and collaborating with EMEA Development Managers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national authorities, institutes, customers, and internal teams to support business and maintain market presence.
  • Collaborate with the Business Director Africa and marketing managers on portfolio management and update them on progress.
  • Support and lead the regulatory team in networking with officials, monitoring regulatory changes, coordinating advocacy activities, and managing registration processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, tracking registration fees, and working with grower associations to identify and realize business opportunities.

 

 

Your qualification

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Science/Agriculture.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), strong team management, and coaching abilities.
  • Extensive expertise in African regulatory requirements and frameworks, with a deep understanding of registration processes and methodologies.
  • Over 8 years of hands-on experience in crop protection regulatory roles.
  • Proficient in communication, self-organization, problem-solving, project management, and interpersonal skills, with developed negotiation and influencing abilities in a matrix organization.
