Senior Global Regulatory Ecotoxicologist

FMC Global Regulatory Sciences is looking for a candidate to work in our Ecotoxicology Team. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated track record of working on projects relating to the discovery, commercialization, and/or optimization of agrochemicals. Working in an interdisciplinary team environment, the successful candidate will have the technical and analytical background necessary to successfully complete ecotoxicological studies needed for global project registrations

•    Serve as a technical expert on ecology, the interpretation/utility of ecotoxicology data to support global registrations, ecological risk assessment, regulatory ecotoxicology study guidelines, experimental design, GLP and regulatory compliance issues
•    Act as study monitor as required for studies conducted within external laboratories and contract research organizations
•    Provide mentoring and support to junior ecotoxicology, colleagues on projects and risk assessments
•    Collaborate with colleagues in other technical disciplines on projects and risk assessments
•    Act as project leader within regulatory sciences group as required
•    Understand connections between several scientific disciplines (e.g., residue, metabolism, e-fate, risk assessment, toxicology) to assist FMC to identify and/or make informed decisions about new products, new growth opportunities, or to defend critical uses for existing products
•    Maintain a current awareness of developments in regulatory science through data mining, participation in Industry Task Forces and Working Groups, Trade Associations and/or professional conferences

Required Education: 
•    Ph.D in Environmental Toxicology or relevant field of study, or equivalent with 5-8 yrs experience or 
•    Masters degree in Environmental Toxicology or relevant field of study with 8-12 yrs experience, or 
•    Bachelors degree Environmental Toxicology or relevant field of study with 12+ yrs experience in conducting or monitoring ecotoxicology studies conducted under GLP in an industrial or regulatory setting.  

•    In-depth knowledge and understanding of global pesticide registration guidelines and data requirements
•    Prior industrial or regulatory experience and a broad understanding of the global agricultural chemical market
•    Experience designing and conducting ecotoxicology studies to address regulatory requirements in the U.S., EU, and other regulatory agencies globally
•    Working knowledge of the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) as applied to regulatory studies 
•    Demonstrated competency with all aspects of report preparation and review, including background research, data evaluation, report writing, and deliverable completion 
•    Advanced understanding of ecology, environmental toxicology, and chemical fate 
•    Position located in Newark, DE, USA, Harrogate, UK, Frankfurt, DE, Geneva, CH
•    Experience with business travel-up to 15%, including international travel.
Additional Desirable and Beneficial Experience 
•    Experience in non-target effects testing, aquatic insects or plants, pollinators, environmental risk assessment techniques, and environmental risk communication
•    Experience with endocrine systems and environmental impacts of endocrine disrupting substances
•    Experience in non-target testing in pollinators 
•    Experience with microbiology and/or plant pathogens
•    Experience of performing non-standard or higher-tier studies in support of ecological risk assessment
•    Thorough understanding of chemical and physical properties of molecules and the relationship of these properties to biological activity and behavior in the environment
•    Understanding of various routes of metabolism and degradation in the environment (e.g. soils and plants).
•    Staff mentoring and management experience is considered an advantage
