Role Overview:  

 

The PMO Lead to oversee formal project management activities for enterprise projects, including SAP and related systems. Reporting to the Associate Director, Program Delivery this role will be accountable for all facets of Project Management, including identifying and onboarding project managers, providing oversight of project management practices, publishing clear and transparent project status reports, tracking project risks/issues and financial health, and ensuring the overall quality of stage gate entry/exit activities are effectively managed. The PMO Lead will manage a team of internal and externally resourced project managers and work closely with Integration and Design Leads, Delivery Team Leads, Testing Program Lead, and Release and Deployment teams.  This role will also be expected to manage specific projects as well from time to time. 

 

Key Role Responsibilities: 

 

 

Project Management Oversight: 

  • Provide oversight of project management activities for enterprise projects, ensuring adherence to best practices, methodologies, and standards. 

  • Identify and onboard project managers based on project needs, ensuring alignment of skills and expertise with project requirements. 

  • Act as a point of escalation to support Project Managers and key project leadership stakeholders as required to enable solution and stakeholder-focussed outcomes. 

 

Team Leadership: 

  • Lead a team of internal and externally resourced project managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure successful project delivery. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the project management team. 

  • Encourage ‘reflect and implement’ practices through capture and review of lessons learned 

 

High Quality Project Management Practices: 

  • Act as an advocate and champion for project governance and stage gate processes to deliver consistency and appropriate risk management and mitigation across all projects within the portfolio. 

  • Drive the adoption of high-quality project management practices, tools, and methodologies across all projects within the organization. 

  • Ensure that project managers have access to the necessary resources, training, and support to effectively manage their project

 

Project Status Reporting: 

  • Publish clear and transparent project status reports, providing stakeholders with timely updates on project progress, risks, issues, and financial health. 

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address concerns, provide insights, and facilitate decision-making related to project management. 

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to pull key pieces of information together to communicate at all levels of the organisation 

 

Risk and Issue Management: 

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to react quickly to changing priorities, decisions and business redirection 

  • Publish clear and transparent project status reports, providing stakeholders with timely updates on project progress, risks, issues, and financial health. 

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address concerns, provide insights, and facilitate decision-making related to project management. 

  • Ensure adequate escalation management frameworks are in place to enable timely and quality resolutions of risks and issues 

 

Stage Gate Management: 

  • Publish clear and transparent project status reports, providing stakeholders with timely updates on project progress, risks, issues, and financial health. 

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address concerns, provide insights, and facilitate decision-making related to project management. 

 

Stakeholder Management: 

  • Enable partnership and collaboration between IT, Functional and Business stakeholders by seeking to remove barriers and acting as a conduit for clear communication – must be able to communicate technically and functionally 

  • Collaborate closely with Integration and Design Leads, Delivery Team Leads, Testing Program Lead, and Release and Deployment teams to ensure alignment and coordination of project activities. 

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand project needs, expectations, and priorities. 

 

Required Education:

B.S. degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Computer Science) or a relevant Business discipline (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain) with demonstrated ERP experience.   

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. 

  • Expertise in project management methodologies, tools, and practices, with a track record of successful project delivery. 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Experience in managing project budgets, resources, and timelines. 

  • Knowledge of SAP and related systems is highly regarded 

  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
