Responsibilities

FMC is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and collaborative individual for an internship in our Corporate Risk Management team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the summer of 2022. The Risk Management Intern will assist with both day-to-day risk management work as well as several unique projects.  The goal is to provide both a "real world" exposure to how a risk management department operates and interacts with the various other internal and external parties, and exposure to unique projects which can't easily be learned in a classroom.

 

The role will report to the Director, Risk Management & Insurance and collaborate across our global work environment to support the key functions within the Corporate Risk and Treasury team.

 

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in insurance renewal process for FMC’s primary casualty and excess casualty programs, including gathering exposures, drafting submissions, and performing coverage analysis.
  • Participate in FMC’s new cyber insurance placement, including gathering exposures, drafting submissions, and performing coverage analysis.
  • Respond to various inquiries from insurers, brokers, and internal customers.
  • Liaise with FMC personnel and third-party vendors on contract reviews and other functions.
  • Create and manage various reports, spreadsheets, and graphics for meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in the development of a new RMIS system at FMC.  This will involve an analysis of legacy policy and claims data.
  • Assist in the implementation of a new certificate of insurance management system.
  • Assist and participate in special projects and initiatives.

               

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity you must be:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program and maintain student status throughout the assignment.
  • Must be currently pursuing either:
    • a Risk and Insurance or Actuarial Science major and must have completed nine semester hours or major-related classwork toward your major prior to the internship 
    • a Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance major and have completed at least nine semester hours of insurance and risk-related courses offered by your university prior to the internship
  • Priority will be given to students graduating in 2023
  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 (STEM and other technical fields) and 3.5 for all others
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and related software.  SQL, VBA, and DB knowledge preferred.
  • Be an effective problem solver with strong analytical skills
  • Results oriented and a self-starter
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Successful candidate will be a self-motivated and results oriented individual, able to achieve high impact in an unstructured environment and the ability to deal with ambiguity

 

Additional Items:

  • The position is located in Philadelphia at FMC’s global headquarters located at 2929 Walnut Street (2 blocks from Amtrak/Septa’s 30th street station)
  • Proof of full vaccination is required (2 weeks after the second dose)
