Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be accountable for leading the site plant maintenance, mechanical and electrical integrity, and reliability functions to deliver on safety, environmental, production, quality and cost objectives while driving continuous improvement. Leads and manages the Maintenance and Reliability organization to ensure that resources have the capability to meet and exceed excellence standards and performance expectations while fostering a respectful and ethical work environment that is aligned with the company’s core values.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leads by example and drives the team behavior aligned with the FMC Values (Safety, Integrity, Respect for People, Agility, Sustainability and Customer Centricity)
  • Provides leadership for effective development, improvements, and implementation of safety, maintenance, and reliability policies. 
  • Leads and supports development of reliability/manufacturing competencies and skills throughout the workforce, continuous development of maintenance skills and providing an environment to foster improved teamwork within and between teams/crew.
  • Ensures organization processes, systems and structures are operating effectively and efficiently to deliver results aligned with the business expectations (Operational Effectiveness)
  • Leads and supports maintenance teams to improve plant operations and reliability to minimize process downtime
  • Measure, monitor, track and report reliability and maintenance key performance indicators to ensure attainment of maintenance objectives.  
  • Manages planning and execution of major outages
  • Manages maintenance costs to budgeted levels up to 15 million and proposes corrective actions to unfavorable variances
  • Manages the predictive and preventive maintenance program
  • Ensure best practices in the maintenance function such as planning and scheduling, work order management, and root cause analysis.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering
  • 10 or more years of experience in chemical manufacturing plant
  • Leadership experience with Process Safety Management, especially on the Mechanical Integrity element
  • Experience developing and managing department budget and familiar with the use of the Standard Cost Methodology (to understand and explain variances)
  • Working experience with Maintenance Processes like Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, Planning and Scheduling and techniques like vibration monitoring and analysis, infrared inspection, oil analysis and performance testing to name a few.
  • Experience planning and executing site wide shutdown and/or turnarounds.
  • Demonstrated use and implementation of key performance indicators and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience developing and successfully implementing a strong reliability program.
  • Leadership experience to address important issues, lead during difficult and unpopular decisions and engages in difficult conversations.
  • Takes ownership to act and to drive progress and deliver on commitments in an ethical way while owning the outcome resulting from one’s  choices.
  • Thinks broadly, anticipates obstacles, and leverage resources to drive to desired outcomes.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Overall Equipment Utilization to lead improvements
  • Functional knowledge of SAP Systems
  • Stores inventory and purchasing managing experience
  • Experience defining required training and implementing it to improve skills and knowledge of the maintenance team
